For fun

Wanted a mascot for my website and came up with this. Modeled in Silo, rigged and rendered in XSI.

Very, very cool!
My hat is off to you.
This robot has great character and huge animation potential I'd imagine.
Bravo!

Thanks all! I kinda did this as a doodle, drawing off a few faves, Iron Giant being one of them. I wanted something that I could use as a mannequin to pose with my rigs, but also something simple and more cartoony without a lot of effort for my mascot/avatar.

I thought exactly the same: Like a mixture of the iron giant and one of those star wars clone warriors.

Nevertheless I like the robot, his hands look great... all those tiny joints (I don't talk about drugs.) Will there be any color or do you leave him plane white?

Cheers "ko'gen".

P.S.: lovisx seems to be tight-lipped today

James Edwards there is some very nice detail on this guy, yet very simple as you say! I love the hands!

Thanks guys - Ko'gen: I went with greys to bring the toon shader a bit closer to a pencil/ink drawn feel. I thought about maybe darkening up some spots on him for a bit of contrast, like his finger pads, soles of his feet etc, but otherwise no color plans yet. He will mostly only be used for animation/rigging purposes, and the odd pose render I need for gfx on my site. I'll probably put a bit more work into him though so who knows... I kinda rushed the feet just to get it done and rendered.

Sure thing JeffrySG... not much to really gain from them though I'm afraid. He's mostly simple primitives slapped together in the end. =]

Even if he's mostly made of primitives, he's very sympathetic. I think one of the crucial things beside the modelling is that you took the trouble and give him some cool poses.

very nice, I really like him!

Thanks for the wires!

And trust me, even seeing simple wires can be helpful sometimes! I think this is a really great design so it's always nice to see how someone approached it!

I def. see the Iron Giant influence on him. Again, great work!

Shazam!

Hot damn, Gwot!

That rocks. I'd seen him in your MSN avatar, but getting a look at the detail is something else. The hands look fantastic!

And as said above, there's a lot of character in him. Looks sweet!

Wanna do a short fat robot? I need a mascot for Atommo
